Sunset Cruise

Golden hour over Banderas Bay · 3–4 hours · Departing from Marina Vallarta

About this experience

Banderas Bay opens west to the Pacific, which is why Puerto Vallarta gets a clean, unobstructed sunset almost every evening of the year. A sunset charter leaves Marina Vallarta in the late afternoon, runs south past Conchas Chinas and Los Arcos, then turns out toward open water as the light drops behind the horizon and the Sierra Madre turns purple behind the city.

The pace is deliberately slow. Most groups anchor for a swim off Los Arcos or Playa Las Ánimas while there is still sun, then cruise back with music on the flybridge as the marina and the Malecón light up. It is the shortest charter we run and the easiest to combine with a dinner reservation in Zona Romántica afterwards.

Your captain reads the wind before setting the route: on calm evenings the boat holds position in open water for photos; when the afternoon breeze picks up, he keeps the hull closer to the coastline for a smoother ride. Either way you are back at the dock roughly 30–45 minutes after last light.

Suggested itinerary

  1. Hour 1 — Boarding at Marina Vallarta

Welcome aboard, safety briefing with the captain, drinks served and lines cast off. Cruise past the marina breakwater and the Vallarta hotel zone.

  2. Hour 2 — Los Arcos & Conchas Chinas

Slow run south along the granite arches of Los Arcos National Marine Park, with time to anchor for a swim or paddleboard while the light is still high.

  3. Hour 3 — Sunset in open water

The captain positions the yacht facing west for the sunset. Music, photos and toast on deck as the sun drops into the Pacific.

  4. Hour 4 — Night cruise back

Return along the illuminated coastline — Malecón, Marina Vallarta and the mountains behind them — and dock.

Yes — most sunset charters include a stop at Los Arcos or a nearby cove while there is still daylight. It depends on sea conditions on the day.
